Playa Del Carmen 2010

Last week we were in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico with Davids company. We had an absolute blast! I LOOOOOOVE Mexico. The people were just wonderful, the food and drinks were amazing, and the area we were in was gorgeous!

So here is a quick recap of our wonderfully relaxing week:

When we first got to our resort, Haciendas Tres Rios, our room wasn't ready. So instead of sitting around being bored, we went to a Tequila Tasting event. I will be the first to say, I HATE TEQUILA!!! But, when in Mexico.....

I learned that you are suppose to hold your breath (no problem there...that stuff stinks!), take a drink, and then blow out your nose! I will say that made it easier to get down, but I still don't like it! However, we had a blast trying them and learning about all the different kinds. And lets just say, by the end of the tasting, it was more like a party!!

Here I am with one of the many glasses of tequila I tried:

And here is our room. After the wine tasting we passed out, I mean, took a nap for a good 2 hours!!

That night we went to meet up with all of Davids company, and we got to see a fire show put on by the resort. We called it an early night, we had been up since 4 am!
The next morning was a rainy day.

Not a big deal, Davids company had a mission trip planned that morning to go visit a horse therapy center. We loaded up in buses and went to the ranch. This place is so wonderful for children with disabilities. They use horses to help children with brain problems, down syndrom, and other disabilities. The horse riding helps build muscles in there core. It also helps build self esteem.

The ranch is free to the children who can't afford it, which is most of them. In this area of Mexico the daily wage is about $6 a day! Needless to say it is poverty stricken. So Davids company gathered donations before the trip and presented the ranch with a big check! They were so grateful! Here is David with one of the little boys from the ranch. David gave him this hat....you would have thought he gave him a million dollars with as happy as that kid was! So cute!
After that we went back to the resort for lunch. These trips are like family reunions in a way. Its always the same couples and you really get to know them and their families and look forward to seeing everyone each year. We hang with the same group every year. Here is all of our friends at lunch:

After lunch it was still raining, so we all pilled into a taxi and headed into Playa. They have a huge shopping area called 5th Avenue. When we got there, the guys stayed at the bar and had cervesas and watched the Olympic Hockey game:

The girls shopped for a few hours and then met back up at the bar with the guys.

That night we had an AMAZING dinner in the kitchen of the resort. It was planned especially for us. The chef served us a 6 course dinner and came out with each course to tell us what he was serving. It was very "foody", that is my way of saying fancy.
Again, we were with our favorite couples, t he Betts, McDonalds, and Turners!
Here is Tera, Ian, Me and David:

And here on the other side of the table is Brad, Jonie, Debbie, and Bill. We always laugh alot together!

Here we are with the chef, Oscar...he was amazing!
And then for the next two days I stayed here:

Yes, a BIG COMFY BED ON THE BEACH!!!!!! I slept, read, tanned, ate, and drank in this bed for 8 hours a day. There was no where else in the world I would have rather been...

I love vacation.....

The last night we had a huge dinner out by the pool with Davids company. Here we are on our way down to dinner...
The Turners and the Welborns.....
Me and Tera....
And the next morning it was back to reality....time to go home.....not too bittersweet....I did have my sweet babies to get back too! And I had bought them lots of prizes in Mexico I couldn't wait to give them....
Here they are the very next morning after we got back playing with a few of the things we got them:

And a special thanks to Davids mom who kept them for the first half of our trip, and to my parents who kept them the second half! I know they had a blast and where well taken care of!

Before I Forget...

Maddox has several terms he has made up for different items. He ALWAYS uses "his" words, and we just know what he means. Anyone else may be confused....so just to clear it up, here is a little dictionary of Maddoxisms:

Army Stick: this is his word for "gun".

Red Shooting: this is a little red gun he has that shoots arrows. Hence the name, "red shooting".

B Snack: since Maddox could talk, he has always refferred to fruit snacks as "b snacks". Still does! Still don't know why!

Baby Milk: when Maddox asks for baby milk, it means he wants warm milk. The only way I can figure out where this came from is that when Cruz was born, he always had warm bottles. We would say, "that's the baby's milk". So Maddox wanted his the same, and the phrase "baby milk" was coined:).

Peace: this is what Maddox calls his Uncle Mark. A while back Mark was trying to teach Maddox to say Peace and I guess Maddox got it all confused. He has called him Peace ever since that day!

Check back, I just KNOW I'm missing something....I may be adding more:). But I just had to get this down before I forgot. This blog is like his baby book!

Lil Bit

I'm sitting here at my computer with my one year old, Cruz, in my lap....he's just about to drive me nuts, cute lil thing! So hard to blog when he's not napping! He LOVES messing with any and all technology. So when I sit down to the computer...he comes running!!!

I've been meaning to do an update on my lil guy for a while now! We'll start with his one year appointment. (Which was about 2 months late! Oops!). Last Monday we went to the dr. for a check up and his one year shots. Cruz does NOT like the doctor. He cries when they weigh him, when they measure him, when they look at him...he hates it all!! So needless to say it was not fun for either of us!
I know my lil Cruz is tiny, but when he weighed in at 19 lbs and 11 oz at almost 14 months...I was shocked! He's so tiny! On the chart he is in the 3% for weight. They decided it was time to fatten this baby up. We are now making his bottles (yes, still haven't weaned him off the bottle) with half PediaSure and half whole milk. This is suppose to add tons of calories. And he loves it! His bottles taste like milkshakes now!
So then he got his shots, which was totally heartbreaking. THEN, they decided to test him for anemia because of his size. So I had to take my screaming baby to the lab to get poked again...but this time he got a sucker...and that made it all better! (and no anemia!)
If you have followed my blog from the beginning of Cruz's life, you know that we have been seeing a pulmonoligist since he was about 6 months old. He had lung problems from the beginning and had to be put on thickener and inhalers. He has been doing great, but we had to go for a check up this Monday. Again, Cruz cried about every little thing they did....weight check, measure, blood pressure...it was all a nightmare to Cruz!
But the good news is in one week he went up to 20 pounds! The doctor was very happy with how his lungs sounded. And we do not have to go back for 6 months. She thinks that after the next check up we may get to take him off his medicines! Yay!
So that's the latest on the health of my lil bit, Cruz-y! And of course...here are a few pics!
